María Verónica Chahin Sarah was born in Santiago of Chile, in 1959. She is a lawyer and has over 30 years of experience in public service. This year she was designated as the new Chilean ambassador by President Michelle Bachelet. Chahin was Consul General of Chile in Bariloche, Argentina, until May 2nd and has also worked in the United States, Holland and Switzerland.
Chahin is the daughter of Fuad Chahin Said, lawyer and tourism entrepreneur, and Juany Sarah Michel, who is self-employed. Her paternal and maternal grandparents came from Bethlehem. Proud of her Palestinian lineage, she studied the Arabic language and culture, and expresses gratitude to her ancestors for their love of Chile, which gave them the opportunity to prosper and grow.

Nowadays, Verónica is in charge of the Directorate of Multilateral Policy of The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile.
